Monte Catlo: Finally, Science Consults the Cats

Original illustration of a smug ginger cat supervising research at a laptop surrounded by charts and dice.

Humans have finally found a use for artificial intelligence: asking cats how to run it.

An April Fools’ paper on arXiv feeds the weight, markings, eye color and “name entropy” of 21 cats into a random-seed generator. They call the method Monte “Catlo.”

I don’t know what my name entropy is, but I expect compensation.

Three pages. Twenty-one cats. Somebody’s research supervisor let this happen.

Read the paper. Inspect the feline credentials.
